A shift in weather patterns may bring significant tropical rainfall to Central Louisiana by Tuesday.
Starting the week, high pressure will dominate, keeping temperatures between 81°F and 87°F with a low chance of rain, between 5% and 30%. Expect cooler nights with temperatures dropping to 59°F–73°F.
By mid-week, conditions will change as a surface low, currently forming in the southwest Gulf of Mexico, could interact with an old frontal boundary.
This interaction is likely to bring an increased chance of heavy rainfall and potential flooding by Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain chances will surge to 70-90% by Wednesday, with daytime temperatures ranging from 76°F to 81°F.
The National Weather Service highlights a medium chance (50%) of tropical development over the next 48 hours and a high chance (70%) over the next seven days.
Although it is still too early to predict the full impact, higher tides and heavy rains are expected to affect parts of Central Louisiana and Southeast Texas by Tuesday through Thursday. Residents should remain vigilant and continue monitoring updates.
