Tropical Depression Four Expected to Strengthen Over Southeastern Gulf of Mexico

Miami, FL (8/3/2024) – Tropical Depression Four is expected to strengthen over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico.

The National Hurricane Center has issued a Hurricane Watch for parts of Florida’s Gulf Coast. This includes west-central Florida and the Big Bend region. Therefore, possible hurricane conditions could occur late Sunday. Additionally, tropical storm conditions are expected along Florida’s west coast. This includes the Tampa Bay area and the Dry Tortugas, where Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect.

Tropical Depression Four may cause considerable flash and urban flooding in parts of Florida and the Southeast U.S. through Wednesday. Isolated river flooding is also possible. There is a possibility of life-threatening storm surge from Bonita Beach to Aucilla River, including Tampa Bay and Charlotte Harbor, where a Storm Surge Watch is in effect.

Impacts from storm surge Tropical Depression Four, strong winds, and heavy rains are possible in Florida and along the southeast coast from Georgia to North Carolina.
