Alexandria, LA (9/16/2022) – Trial dates for two suspects in the Deven Brooks Murder Case appeared before Judge Greg Beard on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Lavalais and Veal are each charged with aggravated kidnapping (1 count) and second-degree murder (1 count).
According to the Alexandria Police Department, Brooks was found on the Red River with a gunshot wound to the head. Lavalais’s trial date is January 30, 2023, and Veal’s trial date is February 6, 2023.
Jamaria Randle, 22, trial date has not been set. Randle is scheduled to appear in court on October 13, 2023, and is charged with aggravated kidnapping (1 count) and second-degree murder (1 count).
