Alexandria, La. (1/15/2026) – A traffic stop leads to drugs and weapons arrest following a late-night police encounter in Alexandria.
Alexandria police conducted a routine traffic stop Wednesday, January 14, 2026, around 10:00 p.m., in the 1800 block of Kelly Street. During the stop, officers uncovered evidence that led to a significant arrest.
As a result, officers arrested 38-year-old Cortez Dotson for multiple drug and weapon violations. Police charged Dotson with three counts of possession of CDS 2 with intent.
Additionally, officers charged him with possession of CDS 1 and possession of CDS 4. Authorities also charged Dotson as a felon in possession of a firearm.
Moreover, police confirmed Dotson had outstanding warrants through the Alexandria Police Department and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office. Officers took him into custody without incident.
Meanwhile, investigators stated the case remains active and ongoing. Police expect additional details may become available as the investigation continues.
