Today, showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase and continue into Friday. Deep moisture over the region will support the potential for heavy rainfall in some of the storms, and rainfall amounts from Thursday morning through Friday night could total 1 to 3 inches areawide, with locally higher amounts possible.
In addition, a few strong to severe storms will be possible across portions of southeast Texas north of Interstate 10, mainly from this afternoon through Thursday evening. Heavy rains will continue into Friday morning and early afternoon as the system continues eastward.
Large rainfall rates will be possible as 1 to 2 inches may fall in a short period.
