An investigation by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of three men involved in a significant drug smuggling operation. The suspects attempted to smuggle $574,278 worth of illegal drugs and contraband into a federal prison.
Authorities seized the following items during the arrests:
- $312,978 worth of methamphetamine
- $54,400 worth of marijuana
- $152,000 worth of tobacco
- 38 cell phones and a Wi-Fi hotspot
- $4,900 worth of THC vape pens
- $50,000 worth of synthetic marijuana
- Two drones
The suspects, all from Florida, face multiple charges:
- Luis Manuel Urra Montero, 28, of Miami, was arrested for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana. He also faces charges for illegal weapons possession, trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and attempting to take contraband into a penal institution.
- Yoan Seirra Hernandez, 40, of Miami, faces similar charges, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana, illegal weapons possession, and attempting to smuggle contraband into a federal prison.
- Yusiel Oceguera Garcia, 37, of West Park, was arrested on identical drug charges, with additional counts for resisting an officer.
Sheriff’s deputies discovered a substantial amount of contraband, including drones and communication devices. The devices could have been used to deliver items into the prison. Investigators believe the operation was highly organized and sophisticated.
This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office to combat illegal drug trafficking and protect the integrity of federal institutions.
