Jackson, MS (6/13/2024) — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced that 36-year-old Daniel Callihan has been apprehended in Jackson, Mississippi, in connection with a series of brutal crimes, including the murders of 35-year-old Callie Brunett and her four-year-old daughter, Erin.
Callihan was taken into custody late this afternoon by law enforcement officials in Jackson. He is accused of committing unspeakable acts of violence, culminating in the tragic deaths of Callie Brunett and her young daughter, Erin.
“Our hearts are with all those affected by this tragic event. These are unspeakable crimes,” stated Sheriff Daniel Edwards. “We ask everyone to keep Callie’s family in your prayers.”
Sheriff Edwards expressed deep gratitude to the numerous agencies involved in the investigation and capture of Callihan. The collaborative efforts included the Louisiana State Police, FBI New Orleans, Jackson Mississippi US Marshals Office, Byram Mississippi Police Department, Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, LA DOC – Rayburn, Jackson Mississippi Police Department, and Rankin County Mississippi. The Sheriff also acknowledged the critical role played by citizens who provided tips and information, as well as the support personnel from all involved agencies.
Additionally, Sheriff Edwards extended thanks to the media, including radio, television, and newspapers, for their assistance in spreading the word about the case.
