Forest Hill, LA (10/9/2024) – Authorities have arrested a suspect for attempted 2nd degree murder following a stabbing that occurred on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Rapides Parish Patrol Deputies responded to a local hospital early Sunday, October 6, after the victim reported being stabbed late the previous night.
Sheriff’s Detectives launched an investigation, gathering key details from the victim’s family. The crime scene was identified at a residence on Randolph Road in Forest Hill, Louisiana. Crime Scene Units processed the location, collecting evidence to support the investigation.
Through their efforts, detectives identified 28-year-old Jose Louis Hernandez Martinez of Forest Hill as the suspect. Detectives established probable cause and obtained an arrest warrant for Martinez on attempted 2nd degree murder charges.
On October 7, with assistance from the RPSO SWAT team, detectives attempted to serve the arrest warrant at Martinez’s residence. However, they were unable to locate him at that time. Later that day, Martinez voluntarily turned himself in to Sheriff’s Detectives. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He remains in jail with a bond set at $100,000.
