A Potential Risk for severe thunderstorms exists on Sunday afternoon, mainly north of the Highway 190 corridor, as a warm front moves into the area, ranging from a Marginal (level 1 out of 5) to Slight (2 out of 5). The western edge of the Enhanced Risk (3 out of 5) covers extreme northeast Rapides and northeast Avoyelles Parishes. The potential risk is for mainly large hail, including significant hail larger than 2 inches in diameter and damaging straight-line winds, although a quick spin-up tornado can not be ruled out.
Scattered thunderstorms will begin to develop around noon time, with the potential for severe storms during the afternoon. The risk of severe weather is expected to end early in the evening after sunset.
