State Police Requested to Investigate Shooting Incident in Bogalusa

Bogalusa, La. (9/30/2023) – Yesterday afternoon, shortly before 4:00 p.m. the Bogalusa Police Department (BPD) requested assistance from the Louisiana State Police – Bureau of Investigations to investigate a shooting incident that occurred near Sullivan Drive and St. Louis Street in Bogalusa.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a BPD Officer was dispatched to a suspicious person call near Sullivan Drive and St. Louis Street. When the BPD officer approached the suspicious person, later identified as 36-year-old Rasheed Moss of Bogalusa, he attempted to flee from the officer on foot. During the foot pursuit, Moss suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. After shooting himself, Moss was apprehended and transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured during the incident.

Louisiana State Police is the lead investigating agency into this shooting incident. The incident scene was processed by Louisiana State Police Detectives.
