Fatal UTV Crash in Rapides Parish
RAPIDES PARISH, LA – On June 22, 2025, at approximately 12:06 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal UTV crash in Rapides Parish.
The crash occurred on West River Road, south of Louisiana Highway 462.
According to investigators, a Can-Am Outlander UTV driven by a juvenile left the roadway for unknown reasons.
The UTV struck a parked Honda Foreman UTV, ejecting both the juvenile driver and 13-year-old Kyndal Vidrine of Oakdale.
The driver of the Honda Foreman was also ejected in the impact.
Vidrine sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.
The juvenile driver and the Honda driver sustained minor injuries and received treatment.
Routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
State Police urge residents not to operate off-road vehicles on public roads.

Deputy-Involved Shooting in Winn Parish
On June 20, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police began investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Winnfield.
The Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office requested the investigation following an incident on St. John Street.
One person was shot during the encounter and transported to a local hospital.
No deputies were injured.
Detectives with the Bureau of Investigations are processing the scene and gathering information.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
