St. Helena Parish, LA (9/13/2023) – The St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Department reported a juvenile was arrested in connection to the shooting that occurred Tuesday, September 12, 2023, on the grounds of St. Helena College & Career Academy.
The shooting occurred around 3:00 p.m. and left one deceased and two injured.
Officials with the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Department responded to the shooting and Louisiana State Police assisted with the crime scene.
The identity of the suspect and victim is being withheld due to their age. No known motive at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
Officials with the St. Helena Parish School District announced that classes will be canceled on Wednesday, September 13, and Thursday, September 14. Grief counselors will be available for the learners upon their return on Friday, September 15.
Sheriff Williams stated, “This is such a senseless tragedy, and my prayers go out to the families of all involved and to the St. Helena community that were affected by this tragedy”.
