Bay St. Louis, MS (4/30/2023) – The Bay St. Louis Police Department (BSLPD) reported four students were injured, two died, charges were upgraded, and the bond was revoked.

On April 30, 2023, the Bay St. Louis Police Department arrested Cameron Everest Brand, 19, male, of Pass Christian, Mississippi and initially charged him with six counts of Aggravated Assault.

On April 30, 2023, at approximately 12:34 a.m., Officers of the Bay St. Louis Police Department responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Old Blue Meadow Road. Upon arrival, multiple persons were found suffering from gunshot wounds, and others were transported to area hospitals by private vehicles before the Officers’ arrival. The victims’ names will not be released now, but they are between the ages of 15 and 18.

Through a thorough investigation, including witness and victim statements, Cameron Brand was identified as the sole shooter. Cameron Brand was located at his residence in Pass Christian, MS. Detectives of the Bay St. Louis Police Department obtained an arrest warrant from Municipal Court Judge Stephen Maggio, who originally set Brand’s total bond at $3,000,000.  The Bay St. Louis Police Department subsequently upgraded Cameron Brand’s charges to two counts of Homicide, and Judge Stephen Maggio issued a warrant with no bond.

Six total victims were identified. Four victims were transported via ambulance and Life Flight to trauma center hospitals in New Orleans and Slidell, LA. Three victims were originally listed as being in critical condition, and the other three were in stable but serious condition.

The Hancock County Coroner’s Office later informed BSLPD that an 18-year-old and 16-year-old juvenile victim succumbed to their injuries after being treated at University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
