Avoyelles Parish, LA (3/2/2024) – The evening of March 1, 2024, turned tragic on Louisiana Highway 1 near Louisiana Highway 1183 as a three-vehicle collision claimed the life of 27-year-old Emily Flores from Shreveport. Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the scene at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Preliminary investigations unveiled that Flores was riding a 2023 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle northbound on Louisiana Highway 1. Under circumstances still under review, Flores veered across the center lines, leading to a side-swipe collision with a southbound 2010 Lexus R35. Despite this initial impact, Flores continued her path into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2023 Dodge Charger traveling in the opposite direction.
Despite wearing a Department of Transportation (DOT) approved helmet, Flores suffered grave injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of both the Lexus and the Dodge, who were properly restrained, sustained minor injuries.
While intoxication is not suspected, standard toxicology samples were collected and are pending analysis.
