Shreveport, LA (5/7/2023) – Shreveport Police Department reported a man was shot and killed riding a bike on Common Street.
On Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 5:22 am, the SPD officers were dispatched to the intersection of Common Street and Cotton Street about a shooting.
Upon arrival, SPD located a male lying in the roadway suffering from gunshot injuries. Shreveport Fire Department arrived on the scene and pronounced the deceased male. Caddo Parish Coroner was notified. Initial reports were that a male was riding a bicycle on Common Street when he was shot down.
The Caddo Parish Coroner confirmed Raymond Behan Jr., 44, was riding a bicycle in the 700 block of Common Street just before 5:30 a.m. when he was shot several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Behan was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.
SPD said multiple people were seen fleeing the area, but no suspect description is available at this time.
This is the 27th homicide in Shreveport and Caddo Parish this year and remains under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department.
