Shreveport, LA (5/30/2023) – Shreveport man killed by Shreveport police following a welfare check Memorial Day Monday, May 29, 2023, has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner’s office.
Robert Diamond, 60, was shot just after 2 p.m. by police officers who responded to his residence in the 7200 block of Old River Drive. Police fired on Diamond after he produced a handgun when they approached him. Diamond was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds at 2:35 p.m.
Diamond’s death marks the 30th homicide in Shreveport and Caddo Parish in 2023. The shooting remains under investigation by the Louisiana State Police.
An autopsy was ordered.
