Cheneyville, La (June 11, 2025) – The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested seven individuals in connection to a mass shooting that occurred near Cheneyville Town Hall on Friday, June 6, 2025.
The incident, described by witnesses as unfolding during a remembrance gathering, left five people injured and drew over 100 shell casings across the roadway.
Deputies responded at approximately 9:12 PM following multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire. Upon arrival, they found that the victims had already been transported to local hospitals by private vehicles. The suspects had fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival.
Throughout the night, detectives and the Crime Scene Unit recovered and processed four vehicles struck by gunfire, including one disabled at the scene. Evidence pointed to two groups of individuals encountering each other during the event, resulting in the violent outbreak.
The first suspect, Kyjuwon Quinshawn Jones, 24, of Pineville, was arrested on June 8 and charged with multiple offenses, including three counts of attempted second-degree murder, firearm possession as a convicted felon, and an active warrant out of Lecompte. His bond was set at $302,000.
Over the next five days, authorities identified six additional suspects involved in the incident:

• Antwon Jones, 19
• Jashon Jones, 17
• Zedareon Vontaurick Gadison, 25, of Alexandria
• Damarion Dresean Bazile, 24
• A juvenile, name withheld
Charges
All were charged with six counts of attempted second-degree murder and criminal conspiracy, except for Bazile and the juvenile, who face the attempted murder charges without the conspiracy enhancement.
Rapides Parish SWAT and the Crime Suppression Unit led multiple operations to apprehend the suspects. Bazile was captured with the assistance of the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office and awaits extradition. The juvenile is being held at a secure detention facility.
Sheriff Mark Wood praised the dedication of his deputies and partner agencies:
“Our Detectives, SWAT, and support units showed exceptional diligence and commitment. I want to personally commend them for their relentless pursuit of justice in this case.”
