Second Officer-Involved Shooting in Marksville in Seven Months Leaves One Dead

Marksville, Louisiana – June 15, 2025 — Louisiana State Police (LSP) are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Marksville that left one person dead and two officers injured.

The incident marks the second such case in the city in just seven months.

According to LSP Region 3, detectives with the Bureau of Investigations were requested by the Marksville Police Department to respond to the shooting, which occurred around 4:50 p.m. on Laurel Street. Investigators arrived to process the scene and collect evidence.

One subject was shot and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Both officers sustained minor injuries during the incident and have since been released after receiving medical treatment.

This marks the second officer-involved shooting in Marksville in less than a year. On November 25, 2024, 18-year-old Howard Williams was fatally shot by an officer or deputy during a separate incident. That shooting also prompted a state-level investigation and renewed calls for community oversight and transparency.

The June 15 investigation remains active, with authorities urging the public to come forward with any relevant information. Anyone with photos, video, or eyewitness accounts is encouraged to contact the Louisiana State Police. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the LSP online reporting system at lsp.org by selecting “Report Suspicious or Criminal Activity” or by calling the LSP Fusion Center Hotline at 1-800-434-8007.

Further details will be shared as they become available.
