Hineston, La. (3/23/2026) — The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office provided an update in the William E Hilton case update, addressing rumors circulating on social media. Officials said claims that the suspect bonded out are not accurate.
Chief of Staff Tommy Carnline confirmed the suspect’s bond is set at $5,300,000. Authorities have not announced any release.
Additionally, officials stated the suspect has been transferred to another facility. They explained this is standard procedure due to the nature of the case and Hilton’s association with the agency.
Earlier, deputies identified the suspect as Ladonna Delrie, 53, of Pollock. Authorities booked her on March 23, 2026, at 7:46 PM. She faces charges of first-degree murder, simple burglary, criminal damage to property, and flight from an officer.
According to investigators, Hilton returned to his residence and saw the suspect leaving. When he approached her, she allegedly ran him over. He later died from his injuries.
Meanwhile, detectives said the investigation remains active. They are asking anyone with information to contact the RPSO Criminal Investigations Division, the main office, or Crime Stoppers.
Officials also thanked the public for its support during this time. They said arrangements for Hilton will be shared once available. They continue to ask the community to keep the Hilton family and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office in their prayers.
