Who: 100 retired educators of the Rapides Parish School System. We also will have the Rapides Parish School Board’s members, administration and Supt. Powell, along with the Mayor of Alexandria, the Mayor of Pineville, the Rapides and Cenla Retired Teachers Association and other officials.
What: The Rapides Parish School Board is hosting a retirement reception and presentation as a recognition for the years of service that 100 past educators have given within the Rapides Parish Public School System. The reception will include an introduction and welcome, presentation of certificates, recognition of special guests and elected officials and closing remarks, with refreshments to follow afterward.
Where: The reception will be located at the Rapides Parish School Board Media Center on 502 Beauregard Street in Alexandria, Louisiana.
When: Tuesday, May 23, 2023, starting at 4:30 P.M. The reception will begin at 4:30 P.M. promptly. RPSB administration and faculty, along with retirees will be available for live TV and radio interviews during/following the reception.
Why: There are a few callings that are both rewarding and challenging as teaching a group of students and preparing them for the world that patiently awaits them. This reception is a small token to recognize and thank those who have spent their careers accepting the calling of teaching. The Rapides Parish Community owes them a debt that can never truly be repaid, and celebrating 100 retired educators of the Rapides Parish School System is a way for our community to come together and honor them.Â
