Louisiana’s statewide grade was 77.1 in 2018/19 (pre – COVID). The average score for 2021/22 is the same, 77.1. Rapides’ score was 78.3 in 2018/19, and Rapides’ score now is 80.4.
There is power in authentic leadership. Given COVID-19 and several major natural disasters in Louisiana, Rapides Schools continued to improve. There is success in play with an actual vision. These results from our students on their test scores show us what those types of traits can lead to.
Jeff Powell had a vision and a plan from day one! In fact, he has been the only “Leader” in our area who told us what he wanted to do and thus has shown us just that!!
We are so proud of our teachers and administrators for the quality of education that they continue to give to our district. Our district was 1 of 20 districts in the state that are an “A” in progress. Nachman, Brame, and ASH all were awarded TOP gains schools for earning an “A” for student progress. I hope the community will join me in congratulating all of our educators on an outstanding job. - Keith Breazeale
It is impressive to see the partnership for one vision at the school board come together. When an experienced board member such as Keith Breazeale and a first-term member, Linda “Gram” Burgess, can work in unison with the other members to see Mr. Powell’s vision through, that has a trickle-down effect.
It shows the teachers and students that bigwigs are there for them, not political clout.
GOOD JOB TO THE WHOLE SCHOOL BOARD! ALL THE TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, AND SUPPORT STAFF!!
BUT EVEN AN EVEN BIGGER “Let’s GET IT” goes out to the students in the parish! WOW!!
Real leadership produces. Let’s continue down this path. Next time we break the top 20.
I’m elated about the progress Rapides Parish school district has made during the 21-22 school year. I am also thankful for the relationship of the board. We are working together to make sure we continue to progress. I would like to see more emphasis now on the discipline problems that we are facing in our classrooms. Can you imagine teachers being able to go into those classrooms and teach and not be bothered with discipline problems. Wow, how much more progress can be made. - Linda "Gram" Burgess
