Rapides Parish School Board Summer Programs 2025 Offer Academic Support and Career Training for All Ages

Rapides Parish, LA (May 2025) – The Rapides Parish School Board Summer Programs 2025 are now in full swing, providing a range of educational opportunities for students from kindergarten through 12th grade, including specialized services for students with disabilities. These programs are designed to strengthen academic skills, offer credit recovery, and provide vocational training during the summer months.


📚 Kindergarten–8th Grade Summer Learning Opportunities

Read to the Rhythm Literacy Camps (K–2)
Designed for early learners falling below grade level, this camp runs from 8 AM to 2 PM in two sessions:

  • Session 1: June 2–12
  • Session 2: June 16–26
    Eligibility is determined through DIBELS scores or teacher recommendations.

3rd Grade – Act 22 Summer School
Complying with Louisiana’s retention guidance, this program gives 3rd graders three opportunities to reach required proficiency levels in English Language Arts.

4th–5th Grade
Students not meeting ELA benchmarks will receive focused instruction during both sessions.

Middle School (Grades 6–8)

  • Session 1: ELA (June 2–12)
  • Session 2: Math (June 16–26)
    Eligibility is based on grades, iReady scores, and teacher recommendations. Participating schools will provide transportation.

🎓 High School Programs: Testing, Recovery, and Career Prep

LEAP Remediation
Held at Pineville High School from June 9–18, this program helps students retest in core subjects such as Algebra I, Geometry, English I & II, U.S. History, and Biology. Final exams will be administered June 23–26 at each student’s home school.

Credit Recovery (June 3–26)
Offered at students’ home high schools from 7:30 AM–11:30 AM, this program enables students to recover lost credits and stay on track for graduation.

Rapides Virtual Program (RVP)
Running May 27–June 27, RVP offers online summer courses like PE, Health, Spanish, French, Fine Arts, and Financial Literacy. Students must register by May 22 and pay $160 per course. Note: Chromebooks or hotspots are not provided.

Elevate Your Summer (Career Training)
Students at Bolton, Peabody Magnet, Northwood, Pineville, and Tioga High Schools can earn industry-based certifications in:

  • Architecture and Construction
  • Business Management
  • Health Sciences

Open to rising 10th–12th graders and 2024 graduates, this program runs weekdays in June and expects to serve up to 300 students.


🌟 Special Populations: Extended Services for Students with Disabilities

The Extended School Year Program (ESYP) runs from June 2–26, 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM. This program supports students with disabilities (SWD) who meet eligibility under criteria like regression risk, critical learning needs, or extenuating circumstances.

Services will be provided at designated host sites, based on recommendations by each student’s IEP team.
