Rapides Correctional Deputy Arrested for Malfeasance in Office and Sexual Conduct

ALEXANDRIA, La. (1/24/2025) – Rapides correctional deputy arrested after allegations of criminal sexual conduct surfaced at the Rapides Parish Detention Center 1.

On January 21, 2025, Corrections Security Investigators received an anonymous complaint regarding inappropriate sexual contact between a deputy and an inmate.

The deputy, identified as 23-year-old Samauria Norris of Alexandria, was placed on immediate suspension as the investigation began. Investigators found sufficient probable cause to support the allegations, leading to arrest warrants for Norris. On January 23, 2025, Norris turned herself in to authorities. She was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on two counts of malfeasance in office and sexual conduct.

Norris, who had been employed as a deputy since October 2024, was terminated upon her arrest. She was released on a $2,000 bond following booking. The investigation highlights the importance of maintaining accountability and transparency within law enforcement institutions.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a statement emphasizing, “All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law or administrative action.”
