ALEXANDRIA, La. (November 1, 2025) — The Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed that skeletal remains were discovered Saturday morning at a residence on Chester Street, between Taft and Hynson Streets in Alexandria.
A representative from the Coroner’s Office said the remains were located earlier in the day. The cause and manner of death remain undetermined. Due to the condition of the remains, identification is not possible at this time.
The Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office and the Alexandria Police Department have launched a joint investigation. However, police have not released an official statement. The department must first obtain authorization from the Mayor’s Office before releasing information publicly.
An autopsy is scheduled, but results will take time. The Coroner’s Office said the case may require assistance from forensic anthropologists at F.A.C.E.S., a specialized program at Louisiana State University that focuses on human identification and skeletal analysis.
Investigators have not said how long the remains may have been at the property. They have also not indicated whether the discovery is linked to any missing persons cases in the area.
Authorities ask residents to avoid speculation and report any information that could help investigators to the Alexandria Police Department or the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office.
