Pineville, LA (8/14/2024) – In early summer 2024, the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit launched an investigation into the Pineville Smoke Shop. Agents targeted the shop at 3628 Monroe Hwy Suite 156, Pineville, LA, after receiving reports that it was selling THC-infused products to minors.
The RADE Unit, a multi-jurisdictional team, received several complaints about the activities at this location. A dedicated RADE agent spearheaded the investigation.
RADE agents, through surveillance and investigative efforts, identified Ahmed Gaber, 40, of Pineville, as the key distributor. Gaber was distributing illegal THC products from this Pineville establishment.
On August 7, 2024, RADE agents executed search warrants at both the Pineville Smoke Shop and Gaber’s apartment at 2747 LA 28 East, Pineville, LA. They discovered a large quantity of THC-infused products, including vape liquids, gummies, and other edibles. The agents also confiscated over $7,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from these illegal sales.
Agents arrested Gaber without incident and charged him with Distribution of CDS I (THC) > 2.5 pounds. They booked him into the Rapides Parish Detention Center, but he was released the same day on a $10,000 bond.
The RADE Unit’s investigation continues as more complaints about illegal THC sales to juveniles emerge. The community is urged to report any related activities.
