ALEXANDRIA, LA (7/16/2025) – The Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit arrested two Alexandria residents earlier this month after seizing methamphetamine, marijuana, and more than $13,000 in cash during an ongoing narcotics investigation.
In June 2025, the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted RADE after Alton Jones, 43, was arrested at a local business for allegedly passing counterfeit cash and facing two narcotics-related violations. Known as a narcotics violator in Rapides Parish, Jones became the focus of a new RADE investigation.
Through surveillance and investigative efforts, RADE agents secured an arrest warrant for Jones on a charge of distribution of CDS II (methamphetamine) and a search warrant for his apartment in the 2600 block of Loblolly Lane.
On July 9, 2025, RADE agents observed Jones driving on North Bolton Avenue. A K-9 deputy assigned to RADE initiated a traffic stop and arrested Jones for the active warrant. During the arrest, deputies reported that Jones attempted to throw evidence into a roadway median. Officers recovered a bag containing several smaller bags of methamphetamine totaling just over two ounces.
Agents then executed a search warrant at 2615 Loblolly Lane, Apartment 2E, where Jones lived. During the search, a female resident, Iyana Chiquita Harrell, 23, arrived at the scene. Agents located approximately ten grams of marijuana, seven grams of methamphetamine, and $13,000 in assorted U.S. currency inside the apartment.
Booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center
Jones was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center for distribution of CDS II (methamphetamine), possession of CDS II with intent to distribute, and possession of CDS I (marijuana). Harrell was also booked for possession of CDS II with intent to distribute and possession of CDS I.
Harrell was released on July 10 after posting a $20,500 bond. Jones was released on July 11 on a $65,500 bond.
RADE agents confirmed the investigation remains active.
The RADE Unit is a multi-jurisdictional team that includes law enforcement agencies and district attorney’s offices from Rapides and Grant Parishes. The unit focuses on identifying and arresting individuals involved in drug trafficking throughout Central Louisiana.
