Pineville police response tied to Ball homicide tip later deemed not credible

PINEVILLE, La. (3/6/2026) — A Ball homicide suspect tip in Pineville prompted a large multi-agency police response Friday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the Palmetto Street and Jeannie Street area off Louisiana Highway 28 East after receiving a reported sighting of a suspect connected to a Ball homicide investigation.

Reports of the police activity began reaching UrbanCast around 1 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026. Residents in the neighborhood said officers advised them to remain inside their homes while law enforcement searched the area.

Ball Police Chief Marshall Deen said officers responded after receiving the tip about the suspect.

Officers then canvassed the surrounding neighborhood. However, investigators did not make contact with any subject during the search.

Authorities later determined the tip was not credible.

Meanwhile, several law enforcement agencies assisted with the response. Both the Pineville Police Department and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed they assisted the Ball Police Department.

In addition, residents reported seeing Louisiana State Police units in the area during the search.

The tip related to the ongoing homicide investigation involving 51-year-old Renina Simmons of Ball. Authorities are searching for Shamond Lamar Sanders in connection with that case.

Officials continue to encourage the public to report credible information related to the homicide investigation.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers of CenLa at 318-443-7867.

UrbanCast will continue monitoring developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
