Pineville, La. (9/12/2025) – The Pineville Police Department has confirmed that a fatal crash occurred on Military Highway near Ellis Drive on Thursday evening, September 11, 2025.
The Crash
At approximately 5:45 p.m., Pineville officers were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle crash. When they arrived, they found one vehicle fully engulfed in flames and another vehicle in a nearby ditch.
According to investigators, 40-year-old Corrinne Jenkins was pulled from the burning vehicle by several bystanders who risked their own safety to save her. Witnesses say the rescuers acted quickly and without hesitation as flames spread through the wreckage.
Emergency responders transported Jenkins to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts.
Heroic Acts
Police praised the citizens who intervened as heroes, noting their willingness to act in a dangerous situation. “The driver of the burning vehicle was pulled from the wreckage by a few heroic citizens who stopped and placed themselves in danger to help another in need—something many others could not have done,” Pineville Police stated in their release.
Ongoing Investigation
The Pineville Police Department has launched a full investigation into the crash to determine the circumstances leading up to the tragic event. Both lanes of Military Highway near U.S. 165 were closed for several hours as emergency crews worked the scene.
