Pineville, La. (11/23/2025) – A Pineville man faces several charges after an armed standoff late Saturday night. The incident occurred in the 3800 block of LA Highway 107 in Pineville.
The disturbance call reached the Sheriff’s Office dispatch at 10:24 PM.
Deputies learned the suspect, Donald P. Baker, allegedly kept family members from leaving a residence. He reportedly removed a wheel from their vehicle. The act prevented the family from safely leaving the scene.
Deputies arrived and saw Baker in the front yard with an AR style rifle. They began verbal negotiations and urged Baker to drop the weapon. Deputies worried Baker might enter the residence and create a barricade. Several people remained inside during the incident.
RPSO SWAT members responded and supported the negotiation efforts. Just after midnight, deputies saw a safe opportunity. They used less lethal measures and brought Baker to the ground. Deputies disarmed him and placed him into custody without further incident.
All people inside the residence were found safe. No injuries were reported.
Deputies transported Baker to the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He faces several charges, including false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon. Baker remains in jail at this time because bond has not been set on several charges.
