Peabody’s Athlete of the Week: Kyron Wilson

Alexandria, LA (8/5/2025) – Peabody Magnet High School has named Kyron Wilson, a standout left tackle, as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Wilson, though early in his high school career, has already earned the respect of his coaches and teammates for his leadership and dedication.

Offensive Coordinator Coach Qavon Mingo praised Wilson for stepping into a role that demands maturity and responsibility. “We don’t care what grade you’re in, being a leader doesn’t have an age. Kyron has accepted that challenge, and we’ve seen him grow more vocal and confident every week,” Mingo said.

As the protector of the quarterback’s blind side, Wilson plays one of the most crucial positions on the field. It’s not glamorous, but it is vital. He embraces the challenge of facing some of the toughest defensive ends each game, staying locked in no matter who lines up across from him.

Motivation Comes His Family

Wilson says his motivation comes from his family, crediting his mother and father for pushing him to excel on and off the field. He models his game after NFL star Trent Williams, admiring his quick feet, strong hands, and dominance at left tackle.

“It feels great to be recognized as Athlete of the Week,” Wilson said. “From being a young kid loving this game to now, it means a lot. I just want to compete and execute every time I step on the field.”

Warhorse fans will see Wilson and the rest of the offensive line in action this Friday night at W.C. Davis Memorial Stadium when Peabody hosts LaGrange in their season opener.
