Parents Arrested For Abusing Their 7-Week-Old Baby

Many, LA (March 24, 2024) – Sabine Sheriff Aaron Mitchell has reported the arrest of Christian Uriah Griffin, 24 and Briana Manshack, 22, residents of Many, on charges of child abuse involving their 7-week-old infant.

The incident unfolded at their residence in the Apollo Plaza Apartments in Many.

The investigation, initiated by Sabine Parish Sheriff Detectives, was prompted by a report from a local pediatrician’s office regarding concerning injuries sustained by the infant. The child exhibited bruising around the neck, shoulders, stomach, and petechiae around the eyes, signaling potential abuse. Following this alarming discovery, the baby was promptly transported to Ochsner LSU Health Medical Center in Shreveport for urgent medical attention and assessment.

Initial assessments suggested the possibility of two fractured bones in the infant, indicating a pattern of abuse. However, subsequent investigations revealed otherwise. During interrogations conducted at Sabine CID in the presence of Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) personnel, Manshack confessed to being aware of Griffin’s abusive behavior towards their child, yet failed to intervene. Griffin, on the other hand, admitted to inflicting harm on his infant out of frustration, including strangulation and squeezing.

As a consequence of their actions, Griffin faces charges of three counts of Cruelty to Juveniles, with the victim being 8-years-old or younger, while Manshack has been booked for being an accessory to Cruelty to Juveniles. At present, no bonds have been set for either defendant.

Griffin’s troubled history further exacerbates the gravity of the situation, as he is currently on probation following a prior arrest in May 2021 for cruelty to juveniles involving his 3-month-old infant at the time. That case involved multiple instances of severe abuse resulting in numerous broken bones throughout the child’s body. Notably, the mother involved in the previous case is distinct from Manshack.

While the investigation remains ongoing, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of upgrading charges based on additional medical findings regarding the infant’s condition.

Please note that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
