ALEXANDRIA, LA (5/5/2025) – A drive-by shooting on Overton Street left one person injured Sunday evening, Alexandria Police Department confirmed.
On May 4, 2025, at about 6:50 PM, officers responded to a local hospital. The victim suffered a gunshot wound.
Police determined the shooting happened at Overton Street and Warshauer Street. Shots were fired from a passing vehicle.
APD did not confirm if the incident was isolated or disclose a possible motive.
This shooting comes 22 days after the broad daylight execution-style murder of Keely Brand on East Sycamore Street.
Police blocked Overton from Fenner Street to Huffman Street. Warshauer Street was also closed to traffic.
Neighbors reported hearing gunfire. Multiple police units and crime scene tape marked the area.
Drivers and pedestrians were rerouted to Harris Street.
Alexandria Police confirmed they are actively investigating the drive-by shooting on Overton Street.
