One Person Hospitalized Following Deadly Alexandria House Fire on Pecan Drive

ALEXANDRIA, LA (4/22/2025) — One person remains hospitalized and another has died following a house fire early Monday morning in the 4200 block of Pecan Drive in Alexandria.

The fire, which erupted around 3:30 a.m. on April 21, prompted a major emergency response involving the Alexandria Fire Department, Rapides Fire District #2, Alexandria Police Department, and Louisiana State Police. Crime Scene Detectives and State Fire Marshal investigators were also present.

Witnesses told UrbanCast they heard a loud explosion before the house caught fire. Fire crews arrived to find smoke coming from the roof and interior of the home. The Alexandria Fire Department reported the fire was brought under control within 59 minutes.

Officials confirmed one adult was killed in the blaze. The identity of the deceased is pending official identification.

UrbanCast can now confirm that at least one person was transported to a local hospital and remains hospitalized as of this morning. The City of Alexandria’s public report, released Monday afternoon, did not mention any hospitalizations.

UrbanCast has reached out to the city’s Public Information Officer for clarification, but no response has been received at this time.

The cause of the Alexandria house fire on Pecan Drive remains under investigation.
