NPSO: Robeline man suffers non-life threatening injuries in crash with cow

Cypress, La. (9/06/2023) – A Robeline man suffered non-life threatening injuries in a vehicle/animal crash on La. Hwy 1 just north of La. Hwy 120/494 near Cypress this morning according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At 5:30am, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau, Louisiana State Police, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a vehicle/cow crash on La Hwy 1 near Cypress with possible injuries.

Units arrived on the scene finding the driver of the vehicle suffering from non-life threatening minor injuries. Deputies say a 2012 Nissan Altima operated by a 58-year-old Robeline man was traveling southbound on La Hwy 1 just north of Cypress when he struck a black cow standing in his travel lane.

The driver was transported from the scene by EMS to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center treated and released. Deputies say the driver was traveling to work at the time of the crash.Troopers assigned to LSP Troop-E Alexandria investigated the crash.

State Police are still attempting to identify the owner of the cow.

La DOTD responded to scene to remove the animal carcass.
