Lake Charles, LA (July 20, 2024) – The Lake Charles Police Department (LCPD) reported one person killed and another injured in a shooting early Friday, July 19, 2024, around 1:00 am. The incident occurred at the corner of Prien Lake and L’Auberge Boulevard, in the parking lot of Paradise Grill & Daiquiris.
Family and friends have identified the deceased victim as Shane Morris. Nick LeDay, Lake Charles Ward 3 Athletic Director, stated, “It deeply saddens us to announce that one of our longtime fellow Lake Charles Adult Basketball League players, Shane Morris, has perished. Please keep the Morris family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
The injured victim was transported to a local hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
The LCPD is actively searching for a suspect but has assured the public that there is no threat to the community. No arrests have been made at this time.
