Nine Decades of Faith and Wisdom: Community Honors Seven Seniors Over 90

Alexandria, LA, (8/16/2025) – Family of Grace Church, in partnership with the Queen Bees for Christ, hosted a heartfelt celebration yesterday honoring seven local residents who have each reached more than nine decades of life.

The event, themed “Nine Decades of Fabulous & Counting,” lifted up the wisdom, faith, and enduring spirit of seniors who continue to inspire their families, churches, and communities.

The honorees included Amy Cheney, Curtis Robinson, Celestine Cole, Fred Green, Katie Peterson, Mary Buckner, and Victoria Ray. Tracy Galloway led the honorees in a procession, and the Family of Grace Praise Team followed with songs before the Eastern Star Baptist Church Youth performed a praise dance.

A Celebration of Purpose and Legacy

Organizer Nita Branch delivered a moving message titled “The Blessing of Growing Old.” Drawing from scripture, Branch reminded the congregation that aging is a divine gift.

“Growing old is not about losing purpose. It’s about stepping into a new season of spiritual influence,” she said. “The world may see wrinkles and slow steps, but heaven sees a crown of glory and a lifetime of faith.”

She urged elders to continue sharing their testimonies, wisdom, and faith with younger generations: “Your voice matters. Don’t keep your wisdom to yourself. Speak into the lives of your children, grandchildren, church family, and community.”

A Pastor’s Encouragement

Family of Grace Lead Pastor Brad Webb echoed the theme of continued purpose, drawing on the story of Joshua and Caleb.

“Joshua took the reins at 80 years of age, and God still had much work for him to do,” Webb said. “If you’ve got a pulse, you’ve got a purpose.”

He reminded the honorees and guests that age does not mark an end but rather a new chapter of service, hope, and love. “Our city needs what you carry—faith, perseverance, and a commitment to loving one another,” Webb added.

Honoring the Golden Generation

The celebration blended joyful worship with reflection as Rodney Cole offered melodies and Toni Austin gave special presentations. The community recognized each honoree not only for their years but also for the lives they have impacted.

Pastor Webb closed the service with a blessing: “For nine decades, God has done something special in you. And I believe He’s just getting started.”

Guests were later invited to a reception in the fellowship hall to continue the celebration.

Community Gratitude

The Queen Bees for Christ and Family of Grace Church extended their appreciation to all who made the day possible. “This was not just an event. It was a reminder of the importance of valuing our elders and recognizing the spiritual foundation they continue to lay,” organizers said.
