Natchitoches Police Launch New Online Crime Alerting and Mapping System

Natchitoches, LA (2/20/2024) – The Natchitoches Police Department has unveiled a cutting-edge tool to enhance community safety: an online crime alerting and mapping service in collaboration with City Protect. This innovative platform aims to provide residents with easy access to incident crime maps and automated alerts, empowering them to stay informed about activities in their neighborhoods.

City Protect, the chosen service provider, uploads crime data several times a day, offering comprehensive information including incident type, date, location, and distance from citizens’ addresses. Additionally, case numbers are provided to identify specific incidents, along with detailed descriptions of crimes or incidents. Notably, citizens and businesses can register their cameras with law enforcement, potentially aiding in the collection of video evidence during investigations.

The introduction of City Protect marks a significant upgrade from the previous mapping service utilized by the Natchitoches Police Department over the past two decades. This transition underscores the department’s commitment to transparency and community engagement, ensuring that citizens have access to vital information and avenues to assist law enforcement efforts.

Accessing the City Protect map is seamless: individuals can visit the official website of the City of Natchitoches (www.natchitochesla.gov) and select “Police Protection” to find the crime map located at the bottom of the web page. Alternatively, users can navigate directly to www.cityprotect.com and search for the Natchitoches Police Department.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity promptly by contacting the Natchitoches Police Department at (318) 352-8101. It is important to note that all information provided will remain confidential.

For those who prefer to report anonymously, Natchitoches Crime Stoppers offers a secure avenue. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the P3 Tips app on smartphones or by calling (318) 238-2388. Citizens may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the arrest of an offender, with all tips treated with utmost confidentiality.

The implementation of this new online crime alerting and mapping system reflects the Natchitoches Police Department’s ongoing commitment to leveraging technology and community partnerships to enhance public safety and foster a safer, more connected city.
