Natchitoches, LA (4/112/2024) – The Natchitoches Police Department (NPD) apprehended two suspects following a high-speed pursuit on Tuesday morning, stemming from a stolen vehicle report originating from Alexandria.
On April 9, 2024, at approximately 10:01 a.m., Natchitoches police officers initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle reported stolen from Clarence Drive in Alexandria. Despite NPD’s attempt to pull over the vehicle, the driver evaded authorities, leading to a chase that spanned the Natchitoches area. The pursuit culminated in a crash at Lakeview Apartments, where the occupants fled on foot.
Officers successfully apprehended the driver and passenger following a brief foot chase and subsequently placed them under arrest.
Kamryn Garner, 18, of Natchitoches, faces multiple charges, including illegal possession of stolen property, aggravated flight from an officer, resisting arrest, possession of a stolen firearm, contributing to the delinquency of minors, reckless operation of a vehicle, and drug possession. Garner is currently held at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
Additionally, a juvenile was arrested for resisting arrest and possession of a stolen AR-15 style rifle, reported stolen from Alexandria. The juvenile was later released to their parents after posting bond set by a local judge.
The stolen Kia owner promptly reported the theft to the Alexandria Police Department, the owner also confirmed the vehicle had been totaled as a result of the crash.
NPD authorities issued a warning to owners of certain Kia models, highlighting their susceptibility to theft. Recent social media posts have demonstrated methods to bypass the vehicles’ security features, making them targets for criminals. Kia owners are urged to contact their dealership to explore options for safeguarding their vehicles against theft.
