Natchitoches: Man arrested for arson and attempted second-degree murder, sheriff says

Natchitoches LA (3/3/2023) – At 8:40 am, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #6, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS are on the scene of a mobile home fire in the 100 block of Ann Street in Cedar Grove Sub-Division just south of Natchitoches according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

NATCOM 911 Center received several 911 calls this morning reporting the fire at approximately 7:13 am. Multiple fire units from NPFD #6 arrived on the scene within minutes finding the mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

There are no injuries. The mobile home was a total loss.

At 9:21 am, Natchitoches Parish Fire District #6 was assisting LSFM Investigators at the scene of the original fire when they observed a second fire in the 100 block of Ann Street.

The mobile home received moderate damage. An individual near the fire scene was observed fleeing the area. After a brief foot pursuit, a Louisiana State Fire Marshal Investigator took the suspect into custody.

The suspect has been transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, two counts of Simple Arson, and one count of Resisting an Officer.

There were no injuries in the second fire.

The investigation is still active and ongoing by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office. LSFM will release any additional information.
