Natchez Man Killed in Natchitoches Parish Crash

Natchitoches Parish, LA (July 21, 2024) – A tragic one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 484 claimed the life of Chadwick J. Nelson II, a 21-year-old resident of Natchez, on the afternoon of July 21, 2024.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the scene of the accident. Preliminary investigations indicate that Nelson was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Louisiana Highway 484. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the roadway, descended the ditch embankment, and collided with a large tree.

Nelson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology samples have been collected and will be submitted for analysis as the investigation continues.

This incident underscores the critical importance of seatbelt use. Proper use of seat belts can significantly reduce the risk of fatality and severe injury in the event of a crash. Ensuring all vehicle occupants are properly restrained can often make the difference between life and death.

So far in 2024, Troop E Troopers have investigated 35 fatal crashes resulting in 39 fatalities.
