Baton Rouge, LA (5/19/2024)Â – A motorcycle rider was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 eastbound near Siegen Lane this afternoon.
Louisiana State Police responded to the scene shortly after 12:00 pm on May 18, 2024. The investigation revealed that 61-year-old Juanita Z. Linton of Prairieville was traveling eastbound on I-10 in the left lane on her 2023 Honda motorcycle.A 2024 Ford Bronco, also traveling eastbound in the left lane in front of Ms. Linton, was involved in the collision.
For reasons still under investigation, Ms. Linton’s motorcycle collided with the rear of the Ford Bronco. Though she was wearing a helmet, Ms. Linton sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Bronco was unharmed.
Impairment is not suspected at this time, but toxicology samples are standard procedure and will be analyzed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police urge all motorcyclists to prioritize safety. Wearing a DOT-approved helmet significantly reduces the risk of head injury in a crash. Troopers also recommend completing an approved motorcycle safety course to enhance skills and awareness on the road.
