Mother and Child Die in Tragic House Fire in Lena

Lena, LA (8/24/2024) – A devastating house fire in Lena has claimed the lives of a 26-year-old mother and her 2-year-old son.

The fire broke out just before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, in the 100 block of Neal Beebee Road in the Sharp community of Lena. State Fire Marshal deputies are actively investigating the cause of this tragic incident.

Responding to the emergency, the Flatwoods Fire Department arrived quickly, but despite their best efforts, the mother and child were unable to escape the flames. An adult male and a 4-year-old boy were also in the house at the time and were hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the fire.

The loss of life in this tragic house fire has left the Lena community in mourning. State Fire Marshal Chief Bryan J. Adams stated that the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, with more information to be released as it becomes available.

The tragic incident has underscored the importance of fire safety and prevention, as officials work to determine what led to this heartbreaking outcome.
