Monroe Police Arrest Suspect in Triple Homicide That Claimed Life of Two-Year-Old

Monroe, La. (10/29/2025) – Monroe Police have arrested a suspect in a heartbreaking triple homicide that left three people dead, including a two-year-old child. The arrest came less than 24 hours after the crime, showing the strength of collaboration between law enforcement and the community.

At approximately 2:56 a.m. on October 28, 2025, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2000 block of Grammont Street. When they arrived, they discovered the lifeless bodies of 27-year-old Jamal Bosley, 25-year-old Jaborris Simpson, and two-year-old Jhersi Simpson. The crime shook Monroe to its core and sparked an urgent response from city officials and investigators.

Detectives from the Monroe Police Department immediately began gathering evidence, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses. Their persistence, combined with crucial information provided by residents, led to the arrest of 24-year-old Travis Payton. Payton now faces three counts of First-Degree Murder, Home Invasion, and Criminal Conspiracy.

During an October 29 press conference, Mayor Friday expressed both sorrow and gratitude as he addressed the community. “This act of violence shook our city to its core,” he said. “The loss of a child is a line we cannot and will not tolerate.”

The mayor praised the police department’s swift response and credited years of investment in public safety and trust building for making the rapid arrest possible. “Thanks to the tireless work of MPD officers and detectives, and the courageous tips from our citizens, a prime suspect was identified and arrested within eight hours of the press conference,” he said. “This is what happens when we strengthen our department and deepen our community partnerships.”

Monroe Police Chief and investigators have emphasized that this remains an active investigation. Authorities believe others may have been involved and continue to follow leads to ensure every person connected to the crime is held accountable.

Officials urge anyone with additional information to contact the Monroe Police Department at (318) 329-2600 or Crime Stoppers of North Delta at (318) 388-2274 (CASH). Tips can remain anonymous and may lead to further arrests.

This tragedy underscores the importance of community trust and collaboration in combating violent crime. Monroe officials reaffirm their commitment to ensuring safety, justice, and peace for every resident, especially the city’s most vulnerable.
