Alexandria, La. (8/19/2025) – Alexandria residents now have access to the four utility rate studies covering Electric, Gas, Water, and Wastewater. Mayor Jacques Roy says the City Council, not the mayor sets the rates.

Yet his recommendations come straight from these studies. How much power does that really give the council?

The mayor also plans to bring the capital tax renewal back before voters. No cost-cutting plans or alternatives were offered. For residents already burdened by rising bills, is this the only option?

The question remains: will these numbers bring solutions or deepen frustration?

UrbanCast will dig deeper into these rate studies in the coming weeks, what will the numbers really reveal?
