AVOYELLES PARISH, La. (2/7/2025) – On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Kevin Dugas threatened to kill his parents and himself at 162 Yank Road, Marksville, Louisiana.
The Avoyelles Parish 911 Communication Center received the complaint, reporting gunshots from the residence. Deputies and detectives from the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO), along with Louisiana Probation & Parole Agents and the Marksville Police Department, responded promptly.
Upon arrival, deputies attempted to contact individuals at the residence. They then established a perimeter while awaiting additional support. Shortly after, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT team assisted APSO in executing a search warrant and attempting to arrest Dugas. However, Dugas had fled on foot before deputies secured the perimeter.
Inside the residence, authorities discovered a firearm and controlled dangerous substances (CDS). Further investigation confirmed that 34-year-old Kevin Dugas, while armed, had threatened to kill his parents and himself. His mother reported hearing gunshots before leaving the residence. Witnesses also claimed Dugas was under the influence of drugs.
APSO has issued five active arrest warrants for Dugas: one for terrorizing (felony) and four for failure to appear in the 12th Judicial District Court on charges including possession of a firearm, possession of CDS Schedule I, II, and IV, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no seatbelt. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
