Many, LA (2/29/2024) – Sheriff Aaron Mitchell reports that James Olin Manshack Jr., 36, of Many was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center last night, February 28, 2024.
According to Sheriff Deputies, they were attempting to locate Manshack for several felony arrest warrants on Monday morning when he allegedly fled and fired at a Deputy. In response, the Deputy returned fire, striking Manshack once in the right leg.
After being wounded, Manshack was taken to Ochsner LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, from where he was released on Wednesday evening and subsequently brought back to Sabine Parish.
Manshack faces multiple charges, including:
- Attempted first degree murder of a peace officer,
- Illegal carrying of a weapon,
- Illegal use of a weapon,
- Possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies,
- Resisting an officer by force or violence,
- Failure to register address by a sex offender,
- Failure to register phone number by a sex offender,
- Failure to notify the community by a sex offender,
- Failure to register a social media account by a sex offender,
- Failure to display sex offender status on a social media account,
- Failure to register an alias name by a sex offender,
- State probation/parole violation.
As of now, no bond has been set.
