ALEXANDRIA, La. (3/10/2026) — A man was injured in an East Texas area shooting in Alexandria Monday night after multiple bursts of gunfire were reported around 10:15 p.m.
Residents reported hearing rapid gunfire near Marilyn Anne Street and Lynda Lee Street, just off East Texas Avenue. Residents also heard the rapid gunfire on Overton, Mason and Lee Streets. Several neighbors described the sound as multiple rounds fired quickly.
When officers arrived, the victim spoke with Alexandria Police while they provided immediate first aid at the scene.
The victim told officers he had just left a nearby store and was riding his bicycle when he noticed several individuals nearby.
“I was just coming back from the store,” the man told officers. “Something told me to turn around and look. When I turned around and looked, they just started blowing at me.”
According to the victim, the individuals appeared to be riding through the area when they opened fire. He told officers he believed he heard someone say something before the shots were fired.
“I think they said, ‘Yeah, that’s him,’ or something like that,” he said.
The victim told officers he does not know why he was targeted.
“I don’t even know why they shot me,” he said. “I don’t bother nobody. I was just coming back from the store.”
The man indicated he was struck in the foot and heel area but remained conscious while neighbors gathered and officers assisted him.
Second Report of Gun Violence
This incident marks the second report of gun violence in Alexandria on Monday evening.
At this time, the City of Alexandria has not made a public statement regarding the incident, whether the shooting was isolated, or whether there is any ongoing threat to public safety.
