Grant Parish, LA (9/23/2024) – A man hung himself in the Grant Parish Jail, leading to his tragic death. Landon Carter, 28, of Pollock, was arrested on September 18, 2024, for several charges, including sexual battery and telephone harassment.
On September 23, 2024, deputies at the detention center had multiple interactions with Carter throughout the day. During a routine check, a deputy discovered Carter had used a bed sheet to hang himself.
Deputies immediately began CPR, and an ambulance was called to the scene. Despite the efforts of paramedics and deputies, Carter could not be revived.
This incident marks a tragic end for Carter, who had recently been jailed for charges including battery and property damage. Authorities have not released further information regarding the investigation. The man’s suicide in Grant Parish Jail has left questions and concerns for the community.
