MAMOU, LA (3/17/2025) – The suspect accused in the Mamou Mardi Gras mass shooting, which left two people dead and injured at least 12 others, has been transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail to face charges.
Trea’land Ty’rell Castille, 19, of Arnaudville, was booked at 11:20 a.m. today after being extradited from St. Martin Parish, where he faces separate charges. His bond is set at $5.2 million.

According to jail records, Castille now faces:
One count of first-degree murder
One count of second-degree murder
Illegal carrying of a firearm at a parade with a weapon used in a crime of violence
Reckless discharge of a firearm at a parade or demonstration
Initially, Castille was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, 10 counts of attempted second-degree murder, and five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
Deadly Mardi Gras Shooting
The mass shooting took place during a musical performance at the Mamou Mardi Gras celebration. Witnesses described chaos as gunfire erupted, sending festival-goers scrambling for safety.
Castille was arrested in Texas before being extradited to Louisiana, where he now awaits trial.
