ALEXANDRIA, LA (4/24/2025) – MacArthur Drive beating as describe by APD turns into homicide investigation following the death of 58-year-old Jerry Chesser, a respected Alexandria resident and business owner.
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, at approximately 2:13 AM, Alexandria Police responded to the 100 block of MacArthur Drive after reports of a man being battered.
The victim, identified as Jerry Chesser, was transported to a local hospital. After days of treatment, Chesser succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, April 22.
On Wednesday, April 23, an autopsy was conducted, and his death was officially ruled a homicide.
Chesser was known as the owner of Red River Tavern, which he opened following retirement, calling it “something to do.”
Funeral services have been announced by Red River Tavern:
Visitation: Friday, April 25 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Funeral: Saturday, April 26 at 3:00 PM
